General
MIDI (GM) is kind of a "lowest
common denominator" of MIDI. The idea is to insure compatability of MIDI
files across different soundcards and synths. Of course, the quality what
you hear is dependent upon your particular sound device. While the quality
of general MIDI can be quite good, it doesn't hold a candle to what can
be done in a with a quality custom setup. But it is a good way to exchange
general musical ideas.
Click the GM Logo for MMA's GM Info. For the GM instrument patch map or the drum key maps, view or save this text link.
